About Our Accompanist ....

Gary Michael Skye, a solo and collaborative pianist, electronic keyboardist, singer, vocal coach, composer, and teacher, began playing the piano at age four. He graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Preparatory Division in piano and voice. For two years, he studied piano at The Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, NY. Desiring a broader academic education, he decided to transfer to Stanford University, where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in Psychology. He then did post-baccalaureate work in solo and collaborative piano on scholarship at the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying with Robert Spillman.  In 2007, Gary completed his master's degree in piano performance at Portland State University, studying piano and Body-Mapping with Lisa Marsh.

Gary has performed around the United States as a recital accompanist, chamber musician, and soloist. He has held positions as a Staff Accompanist and Vocal Coach for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Preparatory Voice Division, Sonoma State University's Department of Music, the Summer Music West Opera and Musical Theater Workshop, and the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp in Michigan. He has taught piano classes at Portland State University and has been an assistant instructor and guest lecturer for classes in Body Mapping and Coordinate Movement for Pianists.

Gary is the music director of Whole Life Church in Lake Oswego.  He also teaches private piano and voice lessons in the Portland and Lake Oswego areas.  He is currently preparing to record his first album of original solo piano and piano/vocal music.  Gary can be contacted by e-mail at garymichaelskye@yahoo.com, or by phone at 310-971-3414.
